Figures Series 26 has been added to the Figures pages.
After the strength of the last series I expected this one to be weaker, but it turns out to be a really good series as well. While there are a few repeats in theme, the actual figures are different enough to stand out.
The only real weak one in my opinion is the male gnome.
He is a near repeat of the gnome form Series 11. Same colors just different printed details. Series 11 below
Many of the other males are returning themes like cowboy or king, but they are different enough to stand out.
The Alien using the same speedo style as the crash test dummy is a great new variation. The robot with him is a repeat.
Great printing on this series again, the graphics work recently has been top notch as seen in 25 and 26.
Other standouts for the printing
Australian Native
Circus Fire Act
The jazz musician is a great one too with the printing and color choices. The head uses the head/hair combo originally used in Super 4 to create the receding hairline. It's surprisingly glossy though in plastic choice. The pastel color choice for the clothes looks to me a lot like a famous photo of Louis Armstrong, but of course they do not name a specific person to avoid copyright issues.
Really interesting use of the new trench coat for a detective. A great historic theme. Because of the stretchy coat the figure beneath is a speedo type, making for a very sleek suited look with the coat off. I think it really works, but do wonder as always about the rubbery plastic if it will be stable long term or might be at risk of drying out or breaking down.
The other surprising standout is the Newsie figure, excellent printing useful for Victorian era onward.
The front is a clip on chest piece
Nice printing beneath it, and the knickerbocker style pants are a great use of printing to create a different style.
There are two obvious couples this time.
The cave people in matching outfits
And the cowboy cooking beans with the rodeo champion
Nice printing on both
The female figures have some great new additions.
Happy to see the star costume from Everdreamerz return. The color is good, and the figure beneath is a great choice with the dark blue with a stars pattern. She could make a third couple pair with the flame thrower figure due to the pants style.
Great unique figures include the girl scout with perfect color choices
The student with a really interesting hair style
and the Judge, who would look great without the robes as a school teacher for the Western Schoolhouse set.
The cat girl with a dog is a returning style, but in new colors and printing. The dog is a new variation, and uses the old brown plastic that would make it a great puppy to the oldest shepherd type dog.
The previous cat girl was from Series 17 done in pink and white
The one that surprised me the most in Girls 26 was the Egyptian Pharaoh
I expected her to be closer in look to the previous versions, but the white used is mother of pearl style, and the printing is excellent. A very rich look that stands out from other versions.
Similar figures have appeared in Series 23, speedo style
Series 6
and way back in Series 2
As you can see the printing and faces have changed over the years and gotten finer and more sophisticated. With the mother of pearl plastic combined with the fine detailed printing, in my opinion the Series 26 Pharaoh is the best one done yet.
Here is the Queen with the big dress. nice to see the hair piece from Super 4/Everdreamerz again. And as previously mentioned the fine graphics work on this series really helps make it stand out from so many similar figures from the past.
The full group of detailed images for Series 26 can be found on the Animobil Figures pages Here.
Definitely a much better series than I was expecting from the small catalog images.
There doesn't seem to be much happening in news out there at the moment, but perhaps the next series of releases will start leaking out soon.
Thanks for reading - Tiermann
