Figures 27 has been posted to the Figures pages.
Another really strong series. Thanks to Graham B for help in acquiring the sets, since they are no longer offered in the USA.
They seem to be continuing the release of international couples as seen with the Sami figures in series 25.
In this series it's South American cultural figures, probably Bolivian
Thewre are also two rabbit headed figures. The white male one is the first ever in white, and both are the first to have used the shorter legs first released with the dwarves. Here seen with a previous regular height rabbit head between them. A very interesting use of the shorter skirt pieces seen in both the dwarf legged rabbit and the Bolivian woman.
The woman in the cucumber mascot costume uses the same mold as the banana figure from the Miraculous advent calendar. It's a clever reuse of the parts
The Bobby in the boys series reuses the most recent mold of the iconic Bobby police helmet, but gives it unique printing.
Seen in this group photo are the Playpeople Bobby and the more recent Hamley's Bobby in the center with the new Figures 27 Bobby on the right. Why did they just give the figures one a plain rod instead of the night stick seen in teh Hamley's version I don't know.
In the Girls the Koi Mermaid is a standout, a really nice idea.
In the boys the flame throwing skater is a great reuse of the Mr T head and has some great printing. Is it a robot? An alien? A Superhero/mutant?
Also really unique from the Boys is the goldfish headed figure. Again a little ambiguous, but I am inclined to think it's an exo-suit for a really intelligent goldfish. I wish they hadn't used the shooting arm, though it is a nice touch for play value. The chest piece and arm with bubble windows on them are awesome with that clear blue head and a fish print.
My only major criticism is the arm color of the female pilot. There is no reason why they couldn't have matched the arms to the color used in the pants and torso. Just inattention to detail on the production department's part.
The print on the Vampire Lady's upper torso could have been heavier to better match the skin tone, though it looks ok in the photo it is more noticeable in person.
Overall a really strong series with some great standout figures. Tastes vary of course. It seems like I always end up liking them better in person than I do in the promo photos. The level of detail the last couiple of years has been really good.
The full series in detail photos with multiple views and break downs can be found on the Series 27 page.
