Thanks to Zookeeper in Germany I have the full set of McDonalds Wiltopia animals.
There are 14 different ones, with one box variation for the Orangutan. Not all 14 have been made available in every country, and how many are available from any given single McDonalds location varies as well.
These are produced at the factories in Asia that usually produce the Happy Meal toys, and not at a Playmobil factory. This means that the molds used are different, so they are each unique compared to usual Playmobil animals. They are also made with the bio-materials, I believe sugar cane scrap. This makes them very much part of the sustainable materials concept, along with the Juniors rebrand of the 1-2-3 line that will be using the same materials type.
Each of the animals comes in a Wiltopia themed box with McDonalds branding on it, and with a collector card about the animal. The cards are not numbered like the usual Wiltopia cards are.
Anteater
The anteater is smaller than the usual Playmobil one, and lacks the tongue mechanism. The head and tail are articulated. An excellent model and well proportioned to the others in the line. The tail even has the indentation for the baby to hold onto. This is my favorite of the entire series.
Kodiak Bear
The brown bear, like almost the entire line, is smaller than the regular releases. It also has only head and back leg articulation. the front leg has a raised paw. This raised paw is common across the series.
Polar Bear
Again the polar bear is downsized slightly and has head and back leg articulation. The outstretched paw and overall styling make it seem like a juvenile compared to the other adult polar bears.
Wolf
This one has head and tail articulation, but the legs are solid to the body. To my eyes the body is chunky and large compared to the head and seems out of proportion. It is larger than the standard size as well. The ability of the tail to move is unique for wolves, but doesn't make up for the body seeming off compared to the usual ones. This is my least favorite of the series.
Lion
The head and tail are articulated, but the legs are not. The tail is thick but otherwise it is about the same size as the usual lion.
Lioness
Same as the male lion in articulation and the big tail.
Young Elephant
The baby elephant is very similar to the usual Playmobil elephant young. Differences include that only the head and back legs move, the ears are solidly molded to the head instead of separate pieces, and the tail is solid to the body as well. The trunk end is also different, with the tip being pointed more upwards instead of to the front.
Gorilla
The gorilla has the head molded solidly to the body. It also lacks the articulation of the feet. This makes posing much more difficult for positions other than forward on all fours. The size is also larger, and rounder than the normal ones. After the wolf this is the next biggest miss for me.
Orangutan
There are two box versions. The above is the usual version available in most places. The lower one with the head close up was released in Germany where it was a special promotion outside of the usual releases. Some people have noticed a slight color difference between them but that may be a plastics batch issue and does not seem to be deliberate. Mine are identical, though the photos may make them look a little different due to lighting.
Articulation is the same as usual. It is clearly the female version, but is sized larger than the usual ones and has a wider arm stance. Very similar however.
Dolphin
The dolphin is a solid piece with no articulation like the usual ones. Very nice shaping.
River Dolphin
The river dolphin is also a solid piece and is rounder in style than the normal version.
Hammerhead Shark
Similar to the dolphins, the hammerhead shark is a single piece and is rounder in style than the usual ones with a thicker tail.
Caiman
The caiman is again solid, with no mouth articulation like the usual version. It is also quite a bit larger than usual. Very cute though.
Green Sea Turtle
The sea turtle is almost identical to the usual version. It has the same articulation, though the legs are tighter than usual. The head is shaped a bit differently and it has painted eyes. The shell paint is also simpler.
That's it for the McDonalds Happy Meal Wiltopia series. Some great variations from the usual lineup. A few are off, but over all a nice selection of new molds.
The second half year 2024 catalogs have been released online, with the introduction of the new Juniors line. I will be adding the remaining animals to the site next weekend. Mainly this is the Junior ones and the latest small series of Horses of Waterfall.
