December 27, 2020

The German 2021 Playmobil Catalog was posted early on their website. It disappeared pretty quickly, but it was public for a few days, so I think it is fair game. Many of the images have leaked otherwise and are available online elsewhere prior to the catalog showing up. For the last blog post of 2020 I am going to look forward to 2021.

First up there are some new shields.

From Figures Boys series 20 is this one

December 27 2020

From the Specials Plus is this one

December 27 2020

and from the Novelmore expansion are these three

The vast majority of animals are recolors from existing molds. There is one new mold this year however. Pony style 4, with a bent front leg. It shows up in two different release dates of a new Pony Farm theme

Also from that theme are these recolors

December 27 2020  December 27 2020

This last one looks very much like an existing one and could be the photo rather than a new color. It's hard to tell so I will put it here but not add it to Animobil until set instructions are available.

December 27 2020

Sticking with equines for the moment, there is a new batch of Spirit Riding Free licensed sets. These are Rodeo themed and there are two new horses and a new butterfly color

In the fourth batch of Everdreamerz there is a Gypsy style caravan with a brushable mane horse, probably a new variant.

December 27 2020

There is also a new Fairies theme with new unicorn colors, plus a couple of odd colored sea turtles and a new color of the butterfly clip

Also in odd colored sea turtles one of the Advent calendars looks to have a new colored one, but no photo yet. The catalog image is just too small to get anything useful.

On the sea theme there is a series of new Aqua Park sets with some really interesting stuff in it including someone in a fish mascot costume that is super creative. Included in those sets is a new color eel and a new paint of the butterfly fish

December 27 2020  December 27 2020

The Scooby Doo new releases includes a new color of the small clamshell

December 27 2020

There are at least two obvious new Scoobys as well

December 27 2020  December 27 2020

Also in licensed sets are new paints of the main dragons from How to Train Your Dragon

This leads us into one of the oddest themes they have done in a while. Dinosaurs with Mech hardware on them. There is an urban backdrop to the photos so contemporary fantasy? Strange colors for the dinos as well. Pretty much the full range of adult dinosaur molds have been used here.  I am surprised they didn't bring back the dragon people for this one, seems like they would fit in.

There is also a paleontology themed gift set with the old Albertosaurus skeleton in brown

December 27 2020

Another of the gift sets is Arctic themed and has these fox kits in off white

December 27 2020

The final animal noticed so far is this black Newfoundland dog in the Rescue theme

December 27 2020

The black Newfoundland is one of the most common dogs avialable, but it has always been the old mold with the solid closed moth. This looks to be the new mold with the mouth that opens - used only once before.

That is about 43 new animals for the first half next year. There will be some more at the tail end of the year plus no doubt some surprises. This doesn't include anything that may be released in the US or other export markets first. The US catalog usually is available in early January so we should be seeing those soon. Leaked photos for the US market so far are not showing anything new.

An interestign and possibly expensive year next year. All those dinosaurs and dragosn will be costly.

Most of this has not been added to the site proper yet, that will come shortly.

Thanks for reading - Tiermann
